Springing into Action

Happy Sunday, Journeyer!

As I type, the sun is blazing through the picture window at my back, a welcome change from the cloud-covered rainy days of recent.

Every spring I find myself springing into action in new and refreshing ways.

Warren is in Thailand and this cat has a full day of play ahead of her, beginning with last minute preparations for my upcoming Beyond Bereavement class at a local hospital and a Hallmark Movie date with girlfriends.

Yes, I’m truly a sap to the core and I squealed in delight when I first saw the commercial for Hallmark Channel’s new Spring Fling series!

People always comment how predictable these feel-good movies are. They’re right! What is the one constant to each show’s formula? HOPE, Journeyer. Hope.

I’ve had an off week, Journeyer, home sick from work with a stomach bug on Monday and a headache on Friday, so I am a little behind in life in general…

We’ve all been there many times already and will continue to find ourselves in positions where our homes and our lives feel a little cluttered and out of sync.

But here’s what I’ve learned: We are always doing the best we can with what we have on any given day.

My biggest BEST this week was finalizing some details for a surprise retirement party I’m organizing for my father. I’m so looking forward to heading south to those bright blue skies, to gathering with family and friends who will help me celebrate this wonderful man, and to rejoicing the many new paths he will now venture out on.

This week’s happy highlights include…

that soothing feeling that Pepto Bismal brings to an aching stomach…

sunshine…

emerging tulips and budding trees…

my weekly stillness meditation in a light therapy sauna…

cuddling with Hubby in the mornings before the second snooze alarm goes off…

hearing Hubby’s voice when he arrived to his destination in Bangkok and hearing about all of the athletes who will soon be competing in the Youth Worlds for TEAM USA!

meeting new people through this work I do…

actually pulling together April’s newsletter and getting it out on time!

a fresh new haircut…

and this little thing…a notice from The Mighty that they have accepted an article and will be including me as one of their feature authors…

Watch for How Many Children Do You Have?: A Bereaved Parent’s Dilemma coming soon to a screen near you!

These are all the things that keep me springing forward, Journeyer, the fleeting moments that feed my happy like my lawn feeds my emerging flowers…

These are the things that keep me springing into action at the end of my “Other Job” work day, that keep me motivated on those late nights while I balance these two jobs, and that inspire an overall sense of happiness…

[Tweet theme=”basic-white”]Happiness is not a destination, it is the collection of the many things that warm our hearts, make us smile, and rejoice as we walk through this journey called Life.[/Tweet]

As I head out to ready my home for the arrival of my girlfriends, I can’t help but think how happiness happens: sometimes it just arrives at our feet or on our proverbial doorstep, and sometimes we can prepare by sowing seeds of happiness.

What about you, Journeyer? What moment(s) fed your happy this week? You are warmly invited to share in a comment below and help spread hope!

Until next time,

Yours in hope, healing, and happiness,
