A Rebirth

Happy Sunday, Journeyer!

I’m afraid I’ve been under the weather these past two days and haven’t been able to share my overwhelming excitement with my new website!

After sleeping most of the day away, I’m determined to post something from this new site and to continue the tradition of this Happy Happens column.

Those of you who’ve been hanging out here for a while know how much I love hummingbirds and the longstanding connection I have with them.

It wasn’t until I  began preparing my Digging for the Light manuscript for print, when I decided to use this delicate creature as the scene break symbol, that I researched its meaning.

Throughout history, the hummingbird has represented many things: Native American Indians considered these birds as symbols of peace, love, and happiness while the Taino people considered the hummingbird a symbol of rebirth.

It is so befitting that Chad, my brilliant new web designer, chose to pluck the bird from all of my images and incorporate it into a new header, especially given the fact that he didn’t know the symbolic meaning or the one personal to me.

These past two weeks have been all about happiness, peace, love, and rebirth!

I enjoyed watching Big Guy and his teammates compete at the New York State track and field championships…

I felt the joy of a casual phone conversation with Beauty and Fave…

I felt pride as I watched several of Big Guy’s close friends perform their last high school play…

Laughed so hard I almost peed a little when I came upon an enormous pig walking down the middle of my country road!

Of course I stopped to try and help the neighbors who were trying to get the oinker to follow them back to her house and when she came right up to me and started snorting against my leg, I laughed even harder.

The forty degree temperatures and the full sun that filled last week’s days brought excitement and sunshine to my soul!

My heart swelled with pride and I enjoyed accompanying Big Guy to a college interview.

I received my pre-order gifts for Gretchen Rubin’s forthcoming book Better Than Before; I can’t wait to read what she has to say about the habits we form!

On Friday I received a nice recognition at work, which was truly appreciated given the recent struggles…

And then, the greatest joy of all was the finalization of this brand new, beautiful website and blog!

Happy happens, Journeyer…it’s often random and frequently flies in out of seemingly nowhere…

What about you Journeyer? What moment(s) filled your happy organ these past two weeks? Please share and help spread a little joy!

Until we meet again, yours in hope, healing, and happiness,

      ~AE

Soon…

p.s. It’s late and I’m still trying to navigate this new posting software, so I’ll be back later to update the photos! Until then, please enjoy browsing the new site! 🙂  I’d be delighted if you’d share her with your friends, too, and encourage them to join our neighborhood by signing up for our free monthly newsletter!

  1. Love the new look of your blog – well done! This is such a great post and it made me smile to read it! I’m happy that my mom arrived for a ten day visit this weekend. Since she moved to Arizona I don’t see her enough, but I will treasure the visit while she’s here. Hope you have a wonderful week.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Lana! My mother moved to California about nine years ago, so I can relate to treasuring the time you will have to spend with her this week! And to boot, spring is beginning to show her colors so maybe some of your quality time together can be spent in the fresh and great outdoors! Enjoy your week, Journeyer! 🙂

  2. i’m so glad you’re back Annah! And the new site is just beautiful – worth the wait! Hope you’re feeling better soon!

    1. Thanks, Liv!!! It’s good to be back and I am just thrilled with the work of this design person! After 2 years of reaching out to designers who never even replied to my inquiry, I found a “Yes” and a super talented guy! Always love your visits and comments. Thanks for sharing! <3
