Valentine's Flowers

Happy Valentine’s Day, Journeyer!

Yesterday I went for a haircut trim before next weekend’s BIG EVENT! Need tickets? Get yours here!

This salon is on the second floor of an old building that was originally a local theater! The hardwood floors and the stage are still intact!

At the top of the stairs next to the over-sized, barn-style doors is this amazing sign embellished with a quote by Albert Camus:

“In the midst of winter

I found there was,

within me,

an invincible summer.”

Honestly, I can’t think of a more appropriate or seductive quote than this one, especially given another brutal work week. I am nearing the end of that saga, Journeyer…come hell or high water…

As I close out this Valentine’s Day, I’d like to pay homage to those fleeting moments that helped me see sunshine in the midst of this week’s winter.

The sing-song signals that indicate my new washer and dryer are done.

A date night with hubby.

Kahlua mudslide over crushed ice warmed my insides and relaxed my brain on a subzero night.

Reading inspirational quotes from sites like Power of Positivity, inspiration, and Tiny Buddha.

Nailing my upcoming speech time and time again. I’ve got this.

Puppy time with Patches.

Hallmark feel-good movie marathons.

Catching up, dinner, and last night’s original Hallmark movie with a girlfriend.

Laughter.

And this gloriously beautiful mug, Journeyer. This handsome fella is thirteen years old, loves his barn and roaming the fields. Sadly, since we brought home the pooch who doesn’t play nice with her feline friends, he hasn’t been coming around much.

Handsome Harry Thirteen Years and Counting

I finally moved all of the cat paraphernalia to the front porch where we don’t go with the dog. Today, for the first time in a month I found this lovable guy soaking up some sunshine from his perch on the porch.

And this…an unexpected gift from an aunt who I actually had the chance to get to know a little better this summer. Warren and I met her and my uncle in the Thousand Islands for a day trip. Though she and I only talked for hours it seemed as if we’d known one another for generations.

Labradorite Charm and info from Aunt T

We happened upon an antique store that sold all sorts of jewelry fashioned from and with crystals. We bought matching charms and swapped stories about how our strong intuition has served us well over the years.

Though I don’t recall telling her about my affinity to the Tree of Life, she remembered and purchased this charm for me. Included in the surprise package was a page of information that explains the history and symbolism of the Labradorite crystal.

I am always in awe and inspired by the simple fact that neither time nor space can break the bonds of those we treasure…

These simple moments are at the heart of my week.

What about you? What moment(s) warmed your heart this week! Share them here and spread a little love!

Until next time, yours in hope, healing, and happiness,

Annah Elizabeth Signature

  1. I have been doing this every morning and every night. We are going through some very trying times and I can’t tell you how much this helps. Just taking a few minutes twice a day to look for the good.

I am sorry to hear that you’re having a difficult time but happy that you are finding ways to see an invincible summer in winter’s midst.isnt it amazing how those quick reflections on the positive aspects of our day can make a big difference in how we feel?

You, Journeyer, are one of the frequent rays of sunshine I bump into on the www and I am so honored to have you join me here. Sending you hugs and warm wishes.

Yours in hope, healing, and happiness,

    1. Thank you, Liv! There is so much hope in this quote. It is magical and I am in awe of the fact that I stumbled across it two days in a row, in two unrelated places, especially since I’ve never seen it before.
